Both groups learned how to knit and then embroider name tags to take home and felt. The first group began at the beginning with casting on using the twin tail method and then learned slip stitch, knit and purl. The second group added a nifty variation for the more experienced knitters by creating a slot on the back of their tags for safety pins. There were also two brand new knitters who came out last week but because it was our road trip, they had yet to pick up needles and yarn. Needle-less to say, Paula and Sarah can now cast on, knit, and purl!
We had a woman drop by with a yarn and supply donation that we will use for our community project. It's amazing how the word spreads!
Announcements:
Since we can learn from our mistakes (and it's less work to learn from someone else's), next week will be OOPS Show and Tell. Bring an item that you made a mistake on and describe what you learned in 30 seconds or less.Blanket Squares: We have changed the size to 8x8in to match other projects in the area. This also allows you to simply double the gauge swatch on your yarn label since they are given in 4x4 format.
Hope you enjoyed our first project!
Yarn over and out,
JAS
